I’ve enjoyed some great BDSM films over the years and I’m always adding to my collection. Here’s some of the great BDSM scene cult classics, a must for any film buff and fetish afficionado!

VENUS IN FURS 1969
This film is based on Leopold Sacher-Masoch’s infamous novel, originally filmed for the German market. Severin’s peeping voyeurism must be punished through pain.

THE STORY OF O 1975
Based on another fetish book classic written by Anne Desclos, pen name Pauline Reage, in 1954. ‘O’ is taken to a bizarre retreat by her boyfriend Rene to be trained in the art of servitude, bondage and sexual perversion.

MAITRESSE 1976
A thief finds a surprise when he breaks into the house of a Professional Dominatrix. Things start becoming complicated as Olivier, played by Gerard Depardieu, starts falling in love with her.

SECRETARY 2002
Recently released from a mental institution, a young woman is hired by a demanding lawyer. A sado-masochistic relationship starts to develop as she struggles against self harm.

PERSONAL SERVICES 1987
Inspired by the real story of Cynthia Payne, this is a story about the rise of a Madame living in suburbia staring Julie Walters. She seems surprised at the new found pervery she encounters, but eventually takes to her new career rather well

PREACHING TO THE PERVERTED 1997
A computer whiz is sent to try and infiltrate the London BDSM scene by a minister on a morale crusade. He finds himself in an uneasy situation and infatuated by a sex Goddess and Dominatrix living amongst her doting minions. Some of the shoots were taken at club Torture Garden.

GWENDOLINE 1984
Based on bondage themed comics of Willie, Gwendoline escapes being sold to a casino owner by Willard a carefree mercenary, and her adventures begin.

DRESSING FOR PLEASURE 1977
A documentary that influenced the British punk scene and people such as Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren. A frank look at ordinary peoples love of dressing in rubber, tattooing and fetishism and proudly defiant to mainstream culture and authority.

MANO DESTRA 1986
Exquisitely stylised and photographed study of the body as an object, achieving cult status amongst SMers. It confronts views of ‘correct’ female sexuality and the paradox of S&M.

THE NOTORIOUS BETTIE PAGE 2005
One of the first ever pin up icons, with a unique style still copied today, this film documents her life and rise to fame.

BLUE VELVET 1986
Originally a screen play that was many times declined by studios for its strong sexual and violent content. Ths is a surreal film noir directed by David Lynch, an investigator is drawn deeper into a seedy underworld.

HEART BREAKERS 1984
A film about a painter specialising in fetishistic portraits of women who has an opportunity to sell his pictures in a legitimate gallery instead of porn magazines, if he can create enough new material. Based on the real artist Robert Blue.

FETISHES 1966
A documentary where Nick Broomfield and his crew visit the New York domination chambers, Pandora’s Box. He watches various different types of fetish BDSM sessions and takes a peek into the life of Mistress Raven and some of the other Dominas working there.

SALO / THE 120 OF SODOM 1975
A film about 4 fascist wealthy libertines who kidnap eighteen teenage boys and girls and subject them to 120 days of violence, sadism and psycho-sexual torture. An exploration into the themes of political corruption and abuse of power, praised by historians and critics.

THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE AND HER LOVER 1989
Based around a bookshop owner and a restauranteur, a tale of love, deceipt and intrigue. A lavish film with some graphic scenes of sex, scatology and torture.
